Award of Excellence Missy Thomas-Schmit earned the Award of Excellence at the Annual GMTA Auditions held at the University of Georgia Hodgson School of Music on April 8, 2006. This was the first year she competed in the Upper College division. The pieces she performed were the Bourree 1 and 2 by J.S. Bach, Meine Freuden written by Chopin and transcribed by Lizst, and the first movement of the Sonata No. 1 by Ginastera.
Christina Miller wins Honorable Mention at Pianofest Competition in Savannah Christina Miller, one of my students, competed at the annual Piano Fest Competition in Savannah, Georgia, at Armstrong Atlantic State University on February 3, 2006. She performed the first movement of the Sonata in G Major, Opus 49, No. 2 by Beethoven, and the Bach Invention No. 8 in F Major. She won the honorable mention award, which is the third place award, in the middle school division.
National Federation of Music Clubs Festival - Piano Solo Event The NFMC Junior Festival was held on February 17th and 18th at Shorter College in Rome, Georgia. This year, eleven of my students performed and received superior scores. They are Erin Atkins, Matthew Schmit, Annie Tankersley, Allie Tankersley, Elea Faulknor, Michael West, Christina Miller, Megan Seddon, Will McFadden, Joanna Foley, and Brooke Fehlenberg. Congratulations to all of you!
The 2007 NFMC Junior Festival was held in February at Shorter College. The winners of the superior awards were Andrew Stewart, Chrissy Miller, Erin Atkins, Joanna Foley, Matthew Schmit, and Megan Seddon. The winner of the excellent award is Will McFadden. Congratulations!
Gold Cup Awards This year, three of my students qualify to receive the Gold Cup Award. A student will receive this award by receiving three superior ratings in a row in the annual NFMC Junior Festival Piano Solo Event. The Gold Cup Recital will be held on April 2, 2006, at Shorter College in Rome, Georgia. The recipients of this award are Christina Miller, Megan Seddon, and Annie Tankersley.
The 2007 Gold Cup Recipients are Matthew Schmit and Erin Atkins. Congratulations!
